This 2003 Blue Mazda Protoge looked good from a distance, but up close the paint was covered with hard-water spots. These stains are insoluable residue left over from evaporated water, like the kind of crud that gets left behind when a pot of water boils dry.

They won't wash away, in fact, the customer had just washed this car, and called us because the spots remained

Lots of water spots on the hood and windshield.
And although the car hood is clean, the reflections are blurred
with spider-haze.

We removed the surface contaminants with a clay-bar process, and then
removed oxidation and swirl marks with a mild polish and an random-orbital buffer.
Now the water spots are gone, and the paint looks almost liquid.
Notice the reflection of the clouds!
