This 2006 Dark Red Mustang was in dire need of some TLC (Tender Lovin' Care).

The canvas top had deep mildew stains that had been building up for months. We used RaggTopp cleaner for convertables to remove the mildew. This took over an hour of hard scrubbing. Normally, we would never scrub that hard and long on a canvass top, but this was an attempt to save a top that was otherwise doomed for replacement.

After scrubbing it five times and rinsing away all of the cleaner, we let the canvas air dry completely, and then applied three coats of RaggTopp spray protectant. This product looks and feels a little like a clear laquer as you apply it, but after a few minutes, it soaks into the fabric and dries quickly. Overspray must be wiped away immediately, so we shielded the paint and windows during the application.

Then we polished the paint with a mild compound and applied a deep carnuba wax.

BEFOREAND AFTER

These mildew stains were especially bad around the edges

We had to scrub all the way down to and below the trim

The rims had baked in brake dust. Given a little more time, the brake dust would have eaten through the clearcoat finish

We hand polished these with compound because clearcoated rims are actually painted with a clear coat of paint

We have several finishes available for tires. This is the high-gloss look

Even after washing the canvass top twice, the mildew stains were still hanging on

Even after the initial wash, these mildew stains looked permanent.

I forgot to get a good "after" shot fr’ this angle, but you can tell from this other image that it turned out really well.

Massive Mildew stains were left after the initial wash.

Now the stains are gone

AFTER DETAILING
We should have taken a "before" picture of this engine compartment, because it was VERY dirty. My son Samuel spent over an hour cleaning and polishing, and the results speak for themselves.

The carnuba wax really shines!
